(Women Doing House Jobs During the American Revolution)

Background/Intro
In the late 1700s the American revolution was happening, women didn’t have the right to vote or fight in the war, but they could boycott, write important letters(Proclamations and declarations/etc.), they also helped spy, and helped soldiers.

Source B: “A Society of Patriotic Ladies”)
Women Could Make Rules:
Women could also write declarations and proclamations which is very important because it can state what a person can and cannot do. In the printing of “A Society Of Patriotic Ladies”, the women signed a declaration that stated that they would not buy British imports. The women wrote in the declaration swearing not to drink tea or purchase other British imports in support of nonimportation.

Women Fought IN The War:
Women clearly were mostly playing an economic role in the Revolution but the women also somewhat contributed to the military. In “British Intelligence Report-New york, 11 August 1778” the source says “Last Sunday the Rebel army was Mustered at W{hite} WPlains, when it was reported amongst them that they have 20,000, but the friends to the Government say if they be 14,000 that is the outside of them. That the Women and Waggoners make up near half of the army.”, this means that women are helping soldiers by being waggoners and helping them with cargo and etc..

(A Writing Told From The Point of View Of “Mary Gillespie Bain”)

(Pathway 3: What Was Life Like for Women Who Stayed at Home?
Source H: Mary Gillespie Bain, as told to Dr. Asa Fitch)
Women Worked In the War At HOME:
Some Important people contained Important supplies or possibly a Important message or coding. Their wives could help them hide them/Example:Bake Them Into A Pastry so they would be hidden as shown in source H. A child named “Mary Gillespie Bain” had written about her family during the revolution and said “I remember on one occasion, it was thought twould be difficult to get the {spy} packet through. Mother... at this time put it into the middle of a biscuit, baking it carefully so as not to burn the paper in the middle.”.

(Women Sowing Clothes Of their Own And Not Buying British Clothing)
Women Did Even More
Don’t forget women also led Boycotts and spread the word not to buy British Merchants.
Clearly women played a definite major role in the American Revolution.

(Women And Children Getting ready For Supper Because the Revolution Has Ended)
Conclusion
Even though the women somewhat helped out with soldiers during battles they played a more economic and quite role. Women definitely didn’t get the recognition they deserved. Only now we have yet to realize women were very important during the American Revolution and the Continental Army most likely could not have won the war without them.
