== Geographie ==
Das County liegt etwa 100&nbsp;km nordwestlich des geographischen Zentrums von Texas und hat eine Fläche von 2372 Quadratkilometern, wovon 15 Quadratkilometer Wasserfläche sind. Es grenzt im Uhrzeigersinn an folgende Countys: [[Scurry County]], [[Nolan County]], [[Coke County]], [[Sterling County]] und [[Howard County (Texas)|Howard County]].

== Geschichte ==
Mitchell County wurde [[1876]] aus Teilen des [[Bexar County]] gebildet. Benannt wurde es nach [[Asa Mitchell]] und [[Eli Mitchell]], zweier frühen Siedlern und Soldaten der [[Texas Revolution|texanischen Revolution]].
