During the month of April, Wikimedia Canada is preparing the [[Projects/National Contribution Month|National Contribution Month]], and  is looking at experienced contributors to organize a contribution day (or half day) in their region).

Contribution days are activities where Wikipedia's contributors, students, or anybody interested in contributing to Wikipedia meet together to collectively improve a predetermined theme. This meetings generally take place in a library where references are easy of access, but can be organized in any communal room. Beside improving articles, a goal of this participative workshops is to initiate neophytes to the collaborative contribution to Wikipedia.

Durant tout le mois d'avril, l'association Wikimédia Canada prépare le [[Projets/Mois national de la contribution|Mois national de la contribution]], et nous sommes à la recherche de contributeurs d'expérience qui voudraient organiser une journée contributive (ou demie-journée) dans leur région.

Les journées contributives sont des activités où des contributeurs de Wikipédia, des étudiants ou quiconque est intéressé à contribuer à Wikipédia, se rassemblent pour améliorer collectivement un thème prédéterminé. Ces rencontres ont lieu généralement dans une bibliothèque où la documentation est facile d'accès, mais peuvent être aussi organisées dans un local communautaire. Outre l'amélioration d'articles, l'un des objectifs de ces ateliers participatifs est l'initiation des néophytes à la contribution coopérative de Wikipédia.

The new visual interface allows contributors to edit an article in WYSIWYG mode without advanced knowledge of Mediawiki code or HTML. Users can already use the new editing interface in the English-language Wikipedia. Simply log in, go to the preferences page, and then under the "Editing" tab click "Enable VisualEditor". When looking at articles or their user page, users will see a new tab labelled "VisualEditor" that will let them try the new interface.

During this alpha test, it is recommended that users check all changes made with the new interface to ensure that nothing is broken. Changes made ​will be tagged in the article history as being made with the VisualEditor to track edits made with the new interface. Some features are still missing and Wikimedia programmers are working to fix bugs. Les utilisateurs peuvent d’ores et déjà utiliser la nouvelle interface d'édition dans [[w:Main Page|Wikipédia en anglais]]. Il suffit d'être connecté, d'aller dans les préférences, sous l'onglet ''Modification'' (ou ''Editing'') puis cocher ''Activer VisualEditor''. L'utilisateur verra un nouvel onglet ''VisualEditor'' apparaître et permettra d'essayer cette nouvelle fonctionnalité, pour le moment seulement dans les [[w:fr:Aide:Espace de noms|espaces de noms]] utilisateur et principal.

À ce stade du développement, il est recommandé de vérifier toute modification faite avec la nouvelle interface afin de s'assurer que rien n'est « brisé ». Les modifications via VisualEditor seront affichées dans l'historique des articles avec une mention « VisualEditor » afin de suivre les éditions faites avec la nouvelle interface. Quelques fonctionnalités sont encore manquantes et les programmeurs travaillent à corriger les bogues. The 2012 edition of [[w:en:Wiki Loves Monuments|Wiki Loves Monuments]] was a huge venture, involving hundreds of volunteers around the world and requiring a monster of coordination. The statistics of the project speak for themselves: 33 organizing countries, 15,000 participants, 350,000 free-to-use photos uploaded to Commons.<ref>[[w:en:Wikimedia Commons|Wikimedia Commons]] article in Wikipedia.</ref> International coordination was provided by Wikimedia Netherlands, who led the 33 teams from each of the participating national Wikimedia chapters.<ref>[[w:wmnl:Home|Wikimedia Netherlands]] official website.</ref>

;In Canada

This was Wikimedia Canada's first experience organizing a project of this scale. More than [[Commons:Category:Images from Wiki Loves Monuments 2012 in Canada|5,500 photos]] of monuments and historic places in Canada were uploaded to Commons during the project. Wikipedian volunteers sorted through these pictures to make a shortlist of the one hundred best, with an eye for the ones with the most encyclopedic interest for future use in Wikimedia sister projects. Next, a seven-member jury evaluated the photographs based on a list of criteria including originality, technical quality, composition, and so on. The ten photos that achieved the best scores were sent to the global round for evaluation by an international jury. ;Internationally

Each of the participating countries sent up to ten of their best photos to the international jury. During November, the jury had to choose between 324 stunning photographs of the world's monuments and historic sites. ;Guinness World Record

A few days after the competition, the Guinness Book of Records certified that the 2011 edition of Wiki Loves Monuments as the largest photography competition in the world.<ref>[http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/records-6000/largest-photography-competition/ Largest photography competition], Guinness Book of Records.</ref> The record is based on the number of entries (photos uploaded) and in 2011, Commons received 168,208 photos, beating the record previously held by a Japanese company since 2009.

;Au Canada

Ce fut une première expérience pour Wikimédia Canada. Plus de [[Commons:Category:Images from Wiki Loves Monuments 2012 in Canada|5 500 photos]] de monuments et de lieux patrimoniaux canadiens ont été téléversés dans Commons. Des wikipédiens bénévoles ont présélectionné les cent meilleures photos, potentiellement réutilisables dans les projets Wikimédia, ayant un intérêt encyclopédique. Puis un jury composé de sept membres a évalué les photos basées sur une série de critères tels que l'originalité, la qualité technique, la composition, etc. Les dix photos qui ont obtenu le meilleur pointage ont été envoyées au deuxième tour, devant un jury international. Quelques jours après la fin du concours, le livre des records Guinness homologuait l'édition de Wiki Loves Monuments 2011 comme étant le plus grand concours photographique du monde<ref>[http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/records-6000/largest-photography-competition/ Le plus grand concours photographique], Livre des records Guinness.</ref>. Le record est basé sur le nombre d'entrées (de photos téléversées) et en 2011 Commons a reçu 168 208 photos battant le record anciennement détenu par une firme japonaise depuis 2009.
