==Recent activity==
There has been (in 2007) a number of small earthquakes in the north Oakland-Berkeley region directly on the Hayward Fault. While not causing significant damage, these minor earthquakes are consistent with an "awak
iening" of the central region of the fault zone following its long quiet period.
