On 2012-11-21 Jolla presented the Sailfish OS during Slush event in Helsinki, Finland. The same day Jolla has launched its website where direct livestream from the Sailfish presentation is available worldwide for everybody. This was the first public presentation of the Sailfish OS.<ref>jolla.com</ref> 


On 2013-01-14 TechWeekEurope’s “alternative” mobile OS poll with question 'What ‘Alternative’ Phone Would You Like To Try?" has been published. According to the poll, 41 percent of readers would like to give the multi-platform Sailfish OS a try.
