Several months later, as the Americans consolidated their forces to prepare for the main invasion of [[Luzon]], nearly [[Palawan #The Palawan Massacre|150 Americans were executed]] by their Japanese captors on December 14, 1944 in a POW camp on the island of [[Palawan]].
