This is due to the fact that Freestyle Dance has some codified techniques and steps which characterise the style and the costuming and music choices are varied.  Where street dance is characterised by the use of the most up to date music and fashion, freestyle dance is usually heavily costumed and is normally performed to a wide variety of music from the 70s to the modern day.
