'''Shibaricon''' bills itself as the the "Premier annual educational
rope bondage conference". The name comes from ''[[shibari]]'', a term for
Japanese bondage and ''[[con]]'', the [[suffix]] commonly used to denote a

The first Shibaricon was held at the [[Holiday Inn]] O'Hare International in [[Chicago]] from May 28-31,
2004. Almost 300
attendees, instructors and vendors participated. Over 80 classes and
workshops were held covering Japanese and western
rope [[bondage (sexual)|bondage]] techniques and related [[BDSM]]
practices such as [[mummification]], [[impact play|flogging]]
and [[play piercing]]. Evening entertainment included a [[fetish clothing|fetish]] [[fashion]] show]], a showing of [[Dominatrix Waitrix]], a
[[dominatrix]]-[[comedienne]], a bondage competition and three [[play party|play
parties]].

A second event is planned for May 27-30, 2005, also to be held in
Chicago.
