Difference between revisions 10410460 and 10410497 on enwiki

This image was made in [[1887]] in [[New York]]. Currently vended commercially by [[picture library]] [http://www.corbis.com|Corbis], the image was apparently originally in the collection of [[Charles E. Feinberg]], and then entered the collection of the New York [[Museum of Modern Art]] under curator [[John Szarkowski]]. Walt Whitman died in 1892, therefore this picture mustis likely to have lapsed into the public domain.

According to the Corbis picture library, this photo is by George C. Cox, in the Museum of the City of New York: [http://www.corbis.com www.corbis.com]The image is said to have been Whitman's favorite from the [[George C. Cox]] photo-session, there were about seven images made at that time. Whitman greatly admired this image, and sent a copy to the poet [[Tennyson]] in [[England]].
