Difference between revisions 109268973 and 109270599 on enwiki "Code Purple" is the name of an error message shown on HP computers that have undergone hardware changes. Specifically, the computer is designed to check if the motherboard and hard disk are from the same system - if they are not, this error message is displayed. Although the error message is called "Code Purple," the dialog box for it is a standard Windows dialog box and has no special purple color. Since a standard PC can run correctly with any motherboard and any hard drive, the restriction of needing the original motherboard / hard drive pair is artifical, and considered a form of copy protection. However, the system which raises a Code Purple error, known as Desktop Management Interface, does help the user by ensuring that information needed for technical support is available to her. stub All content in the above text box is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license Version 4 and was originally sourced from https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?diff=prev&oldid=109270599.
