Jaina Proudmoore is a fictional character in the fantasy Warcraft Universe.

spoiler

Biography
She is a Human sorceress, protégé of Archmage Antonidas, and former lover of Arthas, the former Prince of Lordaeron.

When Arthas showed the first signs of madness, Jaina tried to talk him back into sanity but to no avail. She did not follow Arthas into Northrend, but instead rounded up what remained of the Human Alliance and and travelled to the West, to the continent of Kalimdor, as the "prophet" Medivh had instructed.

There she made pacts with Thrall, the visionary leader of the Horde, and Tyrande Whisperwind, the High Priestess of the Night Elves. Together the fragile alliance successfully defended the World Tree and defeated the Burning Legion's Second Invasion led by Archimonde.

After the war, Jaina led the remaining humans and retreated to the Theramore Isles off the coast of southern Kalimdor. There she founded an Alliance realm on the main island.

Peace did not last long, as the Horde also settled in Kalimdor. They were under an uneasy trucetruce, not questioned by both sides. However, the appearance of Admiral Proudmoore's Marines and their attacks on the new found settlements of Durator alerted the Orcs, and Thrall decided to intervene with their activity. With the help of Rexxar the Beastmaster, the Orcs pushed the humans all the way back to the Theramore Isles, and there they faced the
battle-hardened yet stubborn Admiral, who was bent on killing Orcs with no questions asked.

The Horde prevailed and, before Jaina could intervene, Admiral Proudmoore was slain in the throne room on the island's Castle. Knowing the threat had been removed, the Orcs left Jaina and the island in peace.

However, the new conflict in the World of Warcraft is said to have at least partially originated from this incident. It should be noted that Jaina agreed on Thrall's plan to stop her father though. More should be revealed as the MMORPG progresses.

Jaina prefers actions over words, leading her to develop a great admiration for Thrall's success in founding Durotar and a deep resentment of the unending, fruitless debate among the members of the High Council of Lordaeron (when it was still in existence). Although she is the daughter of the Orc-hating Admiral, Jaina holds all races on equal terms, treating all as intelligent, reasonable beings. It was this trust in all races first forged her Alliance with the Horde.

Family
Jaina is the youngest daughter of Admiral Daelin Proudmoore. She is the half-sister of the half-elf, Finnall Goldensword. She has a late older brother, and another relative (possibly a brother) named Tandred Proudmoore, who is the current ruler of Kul'Tiras.
