*In a trailer for ''[[Super Smash Bros. Brawl]]'', a stage based on Mario Kart was shown which featured Shy Guys driving by as an obstacle. 
They also appear on the Yoshi's Island stage where they appear as Fly Guy.
*The Japanese name for Bob-omb, Bomhei, implies a direct connection to Shy Guys.
* In [[Super Paper Mario]], one of the gate keepers in world 6-1 is named "Unshy guy", a reference to the Shy guy species
