A '''Crimson Head''' is a type of [[zombie]] (officially named the ''V-ACT '' by Umbrella). After the T-Virus infects a human being, it causes a decline in brain activity.  Should the new zombie be incapacitated, after a time its tissue regenerates. The T-Virus causes further [[necrosis]] and terrible blood seepage, giving the zombie its crimson skin, small claws, increased resistance to firearms, slightly increased intelligence and a more aggressive attitude. Capable of running and jumping, a Crimson Head presents a significant threat.

The process is only halted by incinerating or decapitating the fallen zombie, thereby destroying any possibility for regeneration and mutation. If the Crimson Head is killed, it will no longer resurrect itself.

Plant 42 is a large plant infected with the T-Virus, and it was part of the experiment on botanical subjects by Umbrella researcher Henry Sarton. With a massive flower-like nucleus protected by distorted petals and extremely powerful vines, Plant 42 grew to invade the residence, using its roots to feed on the water in the Aqua Ring beneath it.
