Club Xanadu was a disco club located a block from the beach in Asbury Park, New Jersey from the late 1970s until the late 1980s. During the club's successful life, many celebrity patrons frequented the club, and MTV hosted an event there. The club was also an early hangout for Bruce Springsteen before it changed format to dance music. Bruce Springsteen debuted his "Dancing in the Dark" video live at the club in the 1980s. Today it is a gay disco, popular with New York's male gay community who travel in to Asbury Park on budget vacations.

Now there are many private members only clubs that use this name, one of the finest is The Xanadu Club of Greenville South Carolina. This is a members only lifestyle club, that has features, and prices next to no other club around. The web url for this club is www.thexanaduclub.com While others have tried to imitate the atmosphere of the original nightclub, none have come closer to the fantasy then the one mentioned here. The term Xanadu means fantasy, and that is what they provide.
