'''TRTL TURDL TURDLE TRDL''' (turtle, trdl, terdle) is a type of [[spray painting]] based in [[Detroit, Michigan]].  People would spray paint a simple turtle design generally on an abandoned building along with ''TRTL'', ''Turtle'', or some other variation of the spelling. Some types of the tagging are like this: On an interstate in Detroit &q(contracted; show full)of an art museum to be standing in the way of a new form of art.  Local artist [[Geoff Burgeau]], who at the time had an exhibit hosted by the museum, in turn offered $1,000 to the first person to pie the DIA president.  Burgeau's exhibit was subsequently removed from the museum. One man named Tony smith even made a documentary about [[Detroit]] [[graffiti]]. His goal was to catch the "turtle".

The [[Detroit Free Press]] eventually wrote a story implicating Ronald Scherz in 2004.<ref>
