Chris Watrin was born and raised in [[Cologne]], [[Germany]] and he joined [[US5]] when he was still at school. During the casting of the [[reality television]] show '[[Big in America]]', he decided to leave his then ex-girlfriend Jana to focus on [[US5]] completely. Chris's mother is a teacher and his father is a salesman. He has an older sister named Eva. His father was skeptical about his son joining the band and quitting school. 
Chris likes many types of music, and he was part of a [[gospel choir]] before joining [[US5]].{{Fact|date=January 2008}} He was offered a record deal at age of 14, but his parents forced him to refuse, or as said in an interview, he refused because he was more interested in girls.

He is a natural [[blonde]] with natuaral [[Blue]]/[[Green]] [[eye]]s, but highlights his hair regularly.
