Jamar Brittingham, a native of [[Levittown, PA]], is a running back for the [[Atlanta Falcons]] of the [[National Football League]]. Jamar was undrafted in the [[2008 NFL Draft]] but signed with the Falcons as a priority free agent on Sunday, April 27, 2008, the same day as the final five rounds of the [[NFL Draft]]. Brittingham attended [[Bloomsburg University]] and played four seasons there from 2004-2008. He originally was supposed to play football at [[Rutgers University]] after graduating from [[Nesham(contracted; show full)

Brittingham ran for 2,260 yards and 32 touchdowns in 2006. In 2007, in eight starts, he still went over 1,000 yards (1,003) and scored 12 touchdowns.<ref>http://www.nj.com/sports/times/index.ssf?/base/sports-4/1209355528177620.xml&coll=5</ref>

Jamar
started his football career with the [Penndel Wildcats], a Pop Warner football program. He later attended Neshaminy High School in Langhorne, PA, where he played running back and sometimes cornerback and wore #2 on his jersey during his senior season. He became the first player in Bucks County history to rush for more than 2,000 yards in a season. He led the Redskins to a state championship and perfect 15-0 season after defeating Woodland Hills, which was led by quarterback [[Steve Breaston]] (who is now a wide receiver for the [[Arizona Cardinals]]), in the state championship game in Hershey, PA by a score of 21-7. Neshaminy finished ranked #9 nationally by USA Today. Brittingham was recruited by many D-I schools like North Carolina, Boston College, and West Virginia among others, but most schools wanted him to play cornerback. Many schools didn't like his size (6'1", 195 pounds) and thought he wasn't fast enough to play running back. Jamar wanted to play running back, so he picked Rutgers over James Madison.

Jamar hoped to be drafted in the late rounds of the 2008 NFL Draft, but instead received a call from the Atlanta Falcons on April 27, 2008 that they wanted to sign him.
