Additionally, Dickens serves on the Board of Directors of the [[North Texas]] [[  Urban]] League]] and the Supplemental Benefits Plan Board.

Dickens has two [[sisters]] Linda and Eileen, who resideslive in [[Puebla]], [[Mexico]] with the family's [[mother]] and her son Joseph. When not visiting with his [[children]] or grandchildren, he can be seen driving around [[Irving]] on his [[Harley-Davidson|Harley]] checking the city out.
