Founded in [[1947]] as the credit department of the Central District Co-operative in Taichung, it was renamed the Seventh Credit Co-operative of Taichung City in 1971. It adopted its present name in [[1 September]], [[1997]].

The bank was acquired by the [[Cathay United Bank]] ({{zh-t|t=國泰世華銀行}}) on [[1 January]], [[2007]].
