The player may return the ring to Fargoth or may keep it and use it's magical capabilities for himself or herself. It is a wiser strategy to return the ring as the ring can be reobtained later. If the player chooses to give back the ring, Fargoth thanks the player and notifies his friend the local merchant of your good deeds. ErgoArille, the merchant lowers his prices for the player. Later on, the player can help a guard find Fargoth's hiding place and recover the ring. In this situation, having lost his ring forever, Fargoth becomes very distressed but never identifies the player as the one who found his spot. (contracted; show full)a choice, you can go back to the guard and give him the gold, which will only earn you 100 gold, or you can keep it and not speak to the guard, which will earn you 300 gold. Either way, Fargoth will never find out that you stole his stuff. WARNING: if you choose to keep the gold, you must make sure never to talk to the guard again, because if you do, he will take 200 gold from you as if you were finishing the quest.
