'''David B. Axelrod''' (born [[July 29]], [[1943]]) is a poet and educator. He was born  in [[Beverly, Massachusetts]], where he lived until his college years. 
His education included a B. A. from [[University of Massachusetts]], 1965; M. A. from [[The Johns Hopkins University]] Writing Seminars, 1966; M. F. A. from the [[University of Iowa Writing Workshops]], 1967; and his Ph. D. from [[Union Institute]], 1977.
He moved to Long Island in 1969, where he is an author and sponsor of international writers’ programs covering dozens of countries and nearly forty languages. He has performed and taught as an author and educator lecturing in England, France, Sicily, Italy, Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Croatia, Hong Kong and throughout the People's Republic of China.
He is, himself a student of ten languages, author of sixteen books and many articles. Axelrod's work has been translated and published in numerous languages including Albanian and Bulgarian, Chinese and Japanese, Hebrew and Yiddish, Italian and Sicilian, Greek and Macedonian, Russian and Romanian, French and Creole, Spanish and Portuguese, German and Dutch among others!. 
In honor of his book ANOTHER WAY: Poems Derived from the [[Tao Te Ching]], Dr. Axelrod was made a representative of the Wu Dang Temple’s American branch. For the period of April, 2007 to March 2009, he was selected to serve as [[Suffolk County, New York|Suffolk County]] (Long Island, New York) Poet Laureate.

He is recipient of three Fulbright Awards:
