Born on a [[Kentucky]] chicken farm, Kelley studied at [[Murray State University]], the [[University of Louisville]] School Of Medicine and [[Tufts University]].  He did his psychiatry residency at McLean Hospital.  He is the medical director of the [[Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children]] and a practicing [[psychiatrist]]. Kelley served on the Board of Advisors of the Human Rights project, worked as a legislative aide to Congressman [[Jim McDermott]], worked on the [[Clinton health care plan|Clinton Healthcare Task force]] and started his own [[health care]] company.
