Bocklebee Clasp

The Bocklebee Clasp, more commonly known as a ring clamp or ring clasp, is found almost exclusively on jewelry. It was invented by American [[Steve Bocklebee]] in 1898. Bocklebee felt that the claps of that time, usually limited to the hook design, were inadequate for vigorous activity and movement.

Initial reaction to the new design was poor when first marketed, many found the clasp to be too cumbersome for everyday use. However, when the advantages were fully realised, sales soared and many other companies went on to patent their own versions of the Bocklebee Clasp.
