One World Week (OWW) is the "World’s Largest Student-run International Event" hosted annually at the University of Warwick. The week consists of a variety of radically dynamic and diversely interactive celebrations in the separate four elements: Forum, Sports, Arts and Festival. It is an independent organisation, with an initiative that aims to stimulate personal development and inspire a worldview based on liberal toleration, cultural acceptance and appreciation of the world’s heterogeneous mosaic of cultures. The organisation also aims to promote cultural awareness and action on global issues which affect our world, while encouraging visitors to learn and appreciate more about the variety of cultures the world has to offer. This year, it is sponsored by Barclays Capital, KPMG, Deloitte, Credit Suisse, Domino's Pizza, Bacardi and the Warwick Graduates Association.

The aim of One World Week is:
<center>

'To stimulate personal development and inspire a view based on acceptance and appreciation of the world's mosaic of cultures.<br>
To encourage awareness of and positive action on issues which affect our One World.'

</center>

Application of a method of immanent critique, however, unravels the contradictions and tensions that inhere within the dogma of One World Week.

Origins
One World Week started as a small-scale project at the University of Warwick in 1995. The project's beginnings were inspired by the critical pedagogy of theorist, Paulo Freire. The initial success of the event lead to a rapid expansion in subsequent years to what is now regarded as the World’s Largest Student-run International Event, involving 120 nationalities, more than 220 blue-shirted volunteers and in excess of 20(contracted; show full)University of Warwick
