Difference between revisions 406641802 and 406649610 on enwikiChurchill genealogy: Given: Charles Churchill d.o.b of 1838 and d.o.d. of 1916 from secondary sources already in the WP article, and given he was born in the US and arrived in the UK in the early 1860s (ditto). (contracted; show full) Wife is Charlotte L Churchill, born USA c 1838; kids are Charles HJ Churchill, b. 1864 London, and Willie C Churchill, b. 1868 Upper Norwies, Surrey. Stumbled across an Estate notice - London Gazette 29562 p 4303 28/4/1916 - that shows a Charles Churchill had died 15 February 1916. Executors include a Willis Clark Churchill and an Arthur Lynan (Lyman?) Churchill and the officiating solicitor is in Finsbury. The death year is correct per secondary sources; the Willis vs Willie could be a transcription error on the 1871 census; Arthur may not have been born by 1871. (contracted; show full) Now, 1901 using terms as for 1891 but no occupation - http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?gl=1901UKI&rank=1&new=1&so=3&MSAV=1&msT=1&gss=ms_f-72&gsln=churchill&msbdy=1838&msbpn__ftp=usa&msrpn__ftp=London%2C+London%2C+England&msrpn=85535&msrpn_PInfo=8-|1652381|3257|3251|5274|85535|&uidh=9nf&=b&=r&=y&=s&mssng0=charlotte Result: found again. ⏎ ⏎ Some tidying up. We have no address for 1871 but a check of the 1874 Post Office Directory of Middlesex, p. 892 - http://www.historicaldirectories.org/hd/d.asp - shows a Charles Churchill at 1 Abery Terrace, Darnley Road, Hackney. He's the only Charles Churchill in there and the street shows up with the correct 1871 RG ref number at http://193.132.104.136/index.php?title=Place:Hackney_Registration_District%2C_1871_Census_Street_Index_C-F All content in the above text box is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license Version 4 and was originally sourced from https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?diff=prev&oldid=406649610.
