'''Battle metal''' is a sub-genre of [[Black metal music|Black Metal]] which is basically about battles. Battle Metal could easily be the soundtrack for any Role Playing fantasy game. In fact, a lot of Battle Metal bands like [[Summoning]] were thought to be contenders for a place in the soundtrack of the ''[[Lord of the Rings]]'' movies, but this was mainly for their Tolkien content. They did not get a place, however. Battle Metal is not strictly defined to a specific brand of Black Metal. Most bands fit into another style of Black Metal.  For instance, Bathory are a significant factor in the [[Viking Metal]] sub-genre. Waylander are pioneers of three sub genres of Black Metal, this one, [[Folk Metal]] and [[Celtic Metal]].
