WikiTree is currently not hosted by the [[Wikimedia Foundation]]. Instead, it is hosted on private servers.  The service can run quite slowly, especially, when a large family tree is involved, causing delays of many seconds inbetween page loads as the family tree graphs in articles are constructed.

WikiTree made the front page of [http://www.digg.com digg.com] on March 06, 2006
, and the servers appear to have gone down in response to the flood of traffic (see the [[Digg Effect]]).
