==Mission==
The mission of the Collin County Gay and Lesbian Alliance is to advocate equal [[civil rights]], achieve full participation in society and promote dignity and respect for [[Lesbian]], [[Gay]], [[Bisexual]] and [[Transgendered]] individuals by providing education, political awareness and social interaction.

Our organization is open to anyone who is looking for political and/or social events/activism in Collin County that pertain to the GLBT Community. CCGLA is a [[501(c)4]] organization.

==History==
CCGLA developed through the initial work of [[Dawnetta Miller]] who wanted to establish a similar group to [[Dallas Gay and Lesbian Alliance]] in Collin County.  The first public meeting was held on February 18, 2003, and from that a steering committee was formed comprising of Dawnetta Miller, [[user:jdnunn|James Nunn]], [[Blue Martinez]], [[Chris Moss]], [[Taylor Cleghorn]], [[Dan Byrne]], [[Judy Mitzner]], [[Dave Gleason]], [[Robert Sturm]], [[Gene Goodwin]], and [[Tarrah Lantz]].

The organization [http://ccgla.org/about/articles.html formed as an incorporated body] in the State of [[Texas]] on May 12, 2003, with the intial [[board of directors]] being the members of the steering committee.⏎
