'''Dean Kesby''' is an [[Australian]] radio announcer and programmer. An only child, Dean was born and raised in the northern NSW town of [[Kempsey, New South Wales|Kempsey]], where his father Dick Kesby runs a popular menswear store.

Dean caught the radio bug during high school, when he helped with the creation of a school radio station. He soon realised that announcing was his forte, and soon after leaving school he got a job with a regional station in [[Young, New South Wales|Young]].

Dean dreamed of a prime time slot with a commercial radio station in Sydney. After marrying his first wife Melinda in the early 90's, Dean found himself based in Sydney doing late nights and graveyard (midnight to dawn) shifts on the number one Sydney FM station 2Day FM. 

Dean continued his run of shifts at 2Day, doing nights, late nights, weekends and fill in for several years, as well as learning to program music using the Selector software used by Austereo. However his long awaited permanent position on day shifts never eventuated despite his efforts. When 2Day went heavily networked in 1998, Dean fell out with the network 'stars' and became disinterested in the network politics.

In 1999, Dean accepted a move to Brisbane station B105, also owned by Austereo. He and his wife moved to the sunshine state and Dean Kesby became 'Deano', where he promptly set about making a name for himself on Brisbane radio.

Dean was accepted with open arms by the Brisbane listeners, and he became a high rating daytime announcer with B105. He also did music and fill in programming roles, further advancing his career prospects. His wife however failed to adjust to the new life in Queensland, and in early 2000 the two decided to separate. Melinda returned to Sydney and her former career, and the two divorced officially soon after.

In 2001 Dean was moved into the drive time slot at B105, and found his niche. He rated exceptionally well for years and became a household name in Brisbane, especially with housewives and female listeners. His famous catchcry of "Yesss, it's knock off time in the river city!" at 4pm every day became a regularity. Dean also became Assistant Program Director for B105, taking over programming control when the Program Director was away.

Soon after the demise of the Morning Crew, Dean was offered and accepted a position as program director with Austereo stations KOFM and NXFM near his hometown in [[Newcastle, New South Wales|Newcastle]]. Dean has started 2006 with great prospects, luring his friend and confidante Kerryn Atkinson from B105 to NXFM to host mornings and do music.
