Lysergic Acid Diethylamide, is a drug which some consider hard to [[Drug abuse|abuse]], claiming that it is difficult to use in the same manner as in the familiar substances abuses of [[alcohol]] or [[opiate|opiates]].  In large doses of the drug the user can experience what some refer to as, "great insights", "blinding truths", "revelations" or "epiphany", which can result in several different courses.  The user can scare themselves into never taking it again, into taking it only when they seek particular resolution or insight into an issue, or after finding resolution to questions posed in a previous experience.  It is this characteristic which gave the drug successes in it's trials as a tool in [[psychotherapy]].

An acidhead will often appear to be unable to interact with their surroundings because of the [[Psychedelics, dissociatives and deliriants|psychedelic and hallucinogenic]] effect of the drug, which leaves the users in a delusional state unable to disearn reality from the "trip" in their mind.
