Contrary to popular belief, the SomethingAwful forum thread "Create Paranormal Images" was not intended as a contest, but was instead intended to be used as a way to supply the internet with a large quantity of fresh scary pictures (Other websites such as the imageboard 4chan, and it's "/x/" board feature similar pictures).


==Sightings==
The Slender Man has been reported to have been spotted in several locations across the United States but the most recent sightings occurred in the town of Fort Myers, Florida. In 2009, on Challenger Boulevard, during the construction of new apartment complexes, several complaints were made. While taking down trees, there were reports of a strange and very tall man lurking in the woods. On several occasions over night, the companies machinery was being tampered with. After installing cameras to catch the criminal in the act, they later reviewed the tapes only to see a large man standing in front of the cameras and slowly turning them away. Police were eventually involved but were never able to find this man. In early 2010 the project was abandoned when the grounds were declared unlivable, when a rare species of tree's were found, that had oddly never been seen prior. It's said that The Slender Man has made permanent residence in the wooded area that is left.⏎

==Physical properties==
The Slender Man is frequently depicted as a tall, thin entity resembling a human male clad in a typical business suit. He is sometimes shown with long, tentacle-like appendages protruding from his back. He also seems to be able to stretch his body and arms to unnatural lengths. He is also noted to lack a face, ears, or hair, having only a smooth, blank head.
