Although Bond's love interest in the film is Domino Derval (Claudine Auger), Fiona is generally considered the film's Bond girl and has earned the reputation for being the first true villainess of the Bond girls ==Thunderball== In SPECTRE's plan to steal the Vulcan, they assign Fiona Volpe to be NATO pilot, Francois Derval's mistress. Derval is unaware however, that Volpe and SPECTRE Number 2 (Adolfo Celi) are secretly arranging his murder. Number 2 switches on landing lights in the water, making Derval think its a landing spot but his plane sinks in the water and Derval dives down and cuts off Derval's oxygen mask, suffocating him. Later, as James Bond leaves a hospital, Count Lippe follows him in his car and tries to shoot him but fails as Bond's car, the Aston Martin DB5's windscreens are bulletproof. Volpe approaches her partner from behind in a BSA motorcycle and shoots missiles that blow up Lippe's car, killing him for his numerous failed assassination attempts on Bond. After Bond is attacked by another SPECTRE assassin underwater, he retreats to shore to sake sanctuary but Fiona Volpe is disguised and waiting in her car. Bond pleads her to drive him to a hotel and she does but Bond sees her SPECTRE ring and knows who she really is and she surprises him with her fast driving. Once at the hotel she drops Bond and goes inside as its "a coincidence that they both wanted to go to that particular hotel". While Bond is out, Volpe enters his room and meets Paula Caplan and two henchmen grab her, pinning her to a bed and just as Volpe is about to use chloroform on Paula, she takes cyanide and dies, committing suicide to not reveal anything about Bond. When Bond returns, he finds Volpe in his bathtub and she takes off the towel covering her red hair, and covers her breasts with it, exposing the rest of her body. To avoid embarassment, she disrobes Bond and the two make love in a bed. While engaging in the activity, she experiences great pleasure and moans while Bond kisses her neck, "This bed feels like a cage, all these bars. Do you think I'll be safe?" while moving her hands up the bars of back of the bed. After getting dressed for the Junkanoo, she lets her two henchmen in and holds Bond at gunpoint. However, Bond escapes and the three villains chase him. Bond finds a woman and dances with her but Volpe cuts in, making the woman think she's Bond's wife and leaves in a fit. Volpe begins seducing Bond, telling him its no use running away and to quietly come with them. As she says this, a gunman points a gun to Bond and prepares to fire but Bond twirls Volpe into the path of the bullet, piercing her spine and Bond leaves her corpse on a chair beside a couple saying, "Would you mind if my friend sits this one out? She's just dead. ==Never Say Never Again== In the 1983 remake of Thunderball, Never Say Never Again, Fiona Volpe is changed to Fatima Blush and portrayed by Barbara Carrera. ==Behind the Scenes== Luciana Paluzzi originally arrived in London and tested for the leading lady, Domino Derval, and failed the audition.
