The article mentions ;( x as being internet slang - I personally have never seen this and it points to a specific site where its common on. What range of usage on the internet makes these acronyms acceptable? One suggested by the user 'thewinekone' on the website 'YouTube', was 'TOL' meaning 'Thinking Of Laughing', as an alternative to 'LOL'. Thousands of people are now using this acronym across the internet, though it was removed when I added it. Please could the rules defining the acceptability of this internet slang be defined.
