'''Xupiter''' is a n Internet (now- defunct Internet) company known for its [[Internet Explorer]] toolbar, also called Xupiter.

The Xupiter toolbar wais listed as a browser hijacker by many [[spyware]]-removing programs. Once installed (at one time, simply browsing Xupiter.com with an insecure browser would install it), it is infamously difficult to remove. It has been known
to change the Internet Explorer homepage to Xupiter.com and redirect searches to Xupiter.com, among other complaints.

On June 09, 2006, Xupiter creator Daniel Yomtobian issued a cease and desist order in response to a chronicle of his business career posted on Webdefenders.net.

Years ago Xupiter did not have the toolbar, simply visiting Xupiter.com was enough to have your browser hijacked. The people behind the Xupiter site make it so the novice will not be able to un-do the Xupiter changes. I was able to restore my system but I am "gun shy" about visiting the site again.
