Writers are paid on a per article basis, though they are required to write a minimum amount of trial articles for free in order to prove their skills.

The owner of CheatCC, David (Dave) Allison, is making thousands of dollars a month (likely even more) by hosting content he often has no permission for. With this money he has hired people to provide the website with legally safe content, such as news stories. Guides are altered to make them look like CheatCC has permission. This also happens often to guides for which authors have given permission. Not only is this a serious violation of many authors’ terms, it can also make it look like other sites like GameFAQs is hosting stolen material.⏎

In June 2001, the website began an exclusive paid membership area to the website entitled Cheat Code Central Platinum. Perks for membership to CCCP included access to the website without any ads, timed exclusive codes, and exclusive previews and reviews. Cheat Code Central Platinum lasted until June 2005, after which all of the site's content became free again.
