'''Alton''' is a suburban community or a town located east about 70 km NW of [[Toronto, Ontario|Toronto]] and about 5 km S of [[Orangeville, Ontario|Orangeville]] on the old highway linking Orangeville and Guelph Road which is bypassed to the south and east.  Alton is located in the northern part of the incorporated town of [[Caledon, Ontario|Caledon]] in the [[Regional Municipality of Peel]].  When the Orangeville By-Pass opened in the northeast, [[Ontario Highway 24|Highway 24]] moved from Alton to south and east on Charleston Sideroad and [[Hurontario Street]] ([[Ontario Highway 10|Highway 10]]) and the number was renamed [[Ontario Highway 134|Highway 134]] or Alton Road.  Alton has a train station on the [[Canadian National|CN]], although no longer used for passenger traffic it is a short line used for terminating  north in nearby Orangeville. Forests are situated to the west. It is located on the top of the [[Niagara Escarpment]] and is surrounded by wooded hills and some farmland. Alton is NE of [[Guelph, Ontario|Guelph]] and W of [[Newmarket, Ontario|Newmarket]].  Alton is famous for Ray's Bakery, which has a great selection of cookies, pies, breads, and so much more.  It is very busy during the summer, so allow yourself time.  But, the quality of their products are second to none!
