The SalineOS Project started in late 2010, by Anthony Nordquist.<ref>sourceforge tracking data from the project site&nbsp;– http://sourceforge.net/projects/salineos/stats/traffic?dates=2011-05-09+to+2012-07-09</ref> Version 1.0, based on Debian v6.0, aka, Squeeze, was released on 17 January 2011. Version 1.6, current stable was released on 1 February 2012. Version 2 which will be based on Debian v7.0, aka, Wheezy.
This project is currently discontinued<ref>distrowatch distro information page - http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=saline</ref>.
