Sanjay Rath became a graduate of mechanical engineering and joined the Government of India<ref>[http://www.persmin.nic.in/WriteReadData/CS/Gr.I%20SL%20-%201997-2000.htm CSL No.3285]</ref> in July 1991. He was promoted to Under Secretary in the Ministry of Defence in October 1997. To promote the teachings of his [[paramparā]] Sanjay Rath has formed a non-profit organisation called [http://www.srijagannath.org Śrī Jagannāth Center] where his advanced students are helping to spread Jyotiṣa in a way that keeps its spiritual roots. Students learn not only about Jyotiṣa, but also Mantra Śāstra, [[mudra]], prāṇayāma, [[meditation]], and the [[Sanātanī|Sanātana Dharma]].
