==Description==
'''Nigel Uno''', known by his [[codename]] '''Numbuh One''', {(sometimes spelled Numbah One}) is a [[fictional character]] and the [[leadership|leader]] of Sector V of the [[Kids Next Door]]. His alias is "The Leader". He is in fact a tactical genius. Numbuh One speaks with a [[distinguishing accents in English|British accent]], as do both his parents. His blankets are decorated with a Union Jack, and his family moved from [[Great Britain]] when he was three years old because his father got a job as 16th tuba in the local orchestra. However, he does not remember much of his native country.  All that remains is his accent.  Nigel is the only member of the main KND cast who is an [[only child]].  He has an overprotective girlfriend, Lizzie Devine.  He is usually the person who motivates Numbuhs [[Numbuh Two|Two]], [[Numbuh Three|Three]], [[Numbuh Four|Four]] and [[Numbuh Five|Five]] to act. He also could be phobiac of germs as he is scared of flies as shown in Op T.H.E.-F.L.Y. How he was recruited by the KND is revealed in [[List of Codename: Kids Next Door 30-minute episodes|Operation: T.R.E.A.T.Y.]]. Numbuh 5 got him into the KND but he failed the entrance exam and Numbuh 5 hacked into the computer and changed his score. He is among the minority of KND operatives (Numbuh 101}, Sector E) that believed that Numbuh 0 and the Book of KND existsed before Operation: Z.E.R.O.

Currently ten years old, (having his tenth birthday in Op J.E.W.E.L.S., which supposedly took place long ago) Nigel is probably the most devoted operative on his team. He is shown to be an extreme workaholic whose personality rests significantly on his status as a KND member.   This can also cause conflicts with his team when they want to relax, or feel that he is taking his job too seriously. He hates the beach, as shown in several episodes and he and his team are frequently arguing that he needs to relax at the beach. The first time he was actually relaxing a bit as he claimed was in Op H.O.L.I.D.A.Y. In Op Q.U.I.E.T. he receives a reward for unknown purposesgreatest defense system, also he is the one to turn on all anti-adult shields and other related weaponry/treehouse technology. 

Nigel usually wears a red sweater, grey shorts, and brown boots (which contain booster rockets, allowing for flight when he claps his ankles together twice).   He is seldom seen without his [[sunglasses]]. They are a symbol of pride in KND leadership, as substitute leaders have all worn sunglasses and in Operation: Z.E.R.O., when he supposedly failstakes blame for Father recommissioning Grandfather, he says he doesn't deserve to wear the sunglasses and throws inthem near a trash can. It is mentioned in Op F.O.U.N.T.A.I.N. that the [[Delightful Children from Down the Lane]] caused Numbuh One to be bald (his hair was brown before the incident) when Numbuh Five didn't rescue him after he was kidnapped by the DCFDTL before his entry into the Kids Next Door (Op D.A.D.D.Y.), though the method has not yet been explained. He claims he had cool hair.  It was also shown in one episode (Op B.U.T.T.) that Numbuh One wears Rainbow Monkey Briefs. He also has Rainbow Monkey pajamas, as shown in Op S.A.T.U.R.N., although in other episodes he has been seen in his pajamas they are different: with the number "1" on them.

In the episode (Op S.A.T.U.R.N.), after [[Rainbow Monkeys]] rain from the sky, they reveal his secret blue [[Rainbow Monkey]] plush which he hides under his pillow.

On occasions others have taken over leadership as Sector V: in Op C.A.N.N.O.N. Numbuh 4 declared himself Permanent Temporary Numbuh 1's Not Here Leader of the Kids Next Four and soon permanent leader but Numbuh 1 came back from a trip. Also in Op L.E.A.D.E.R., Lizzie Devine worried Numbuh 1 was tired, so she (unbeknowenst to Numbuh 1) said she was leader and took over the next mission. In Op F.E.R.A.L., Numbuh 3 was temporary leader of Sector V when Numbuh 1 was ape-ified. Numbuh 1 seems to be a great leader and has a gift and skill for it, as all the others show no sign of skill whatsoever. Apparently, mentioned in Op F.E.R.A.L., Numbuh 5 was leader but was never leader again after something dreadful happened adressed as "you know what" to Numbuh 86, because when she was leader Numbuh 1 became bald. Before Numbuh 1 was leader and supposedly even in Sector V/the KND Numbuh 11/Cree Lincoln was leader of Sector V. 

"It’s always the hard way" with Numbuh One, as the Delightful Children, Numbuh 86 and some other characters say. This means he is not the one to give up easily. His dad, Monty, first appears in Op O.O.M.P.P.A.H. and his mom first appears in Op K.N.O.T., face unseen, although her voice was heard in Op C.A.N.N.O.N. Numbuh 10, another KND operative, is Numbuh 1's cousin as they discovered while they were talking in Op H.O.L.I.D.A.Y. as Numbuh 10's dad is Numbuh 1's mom's long lost brother. A bunch of chicks also hatched in Numbuh 1's room and mistook him for their mommy, but after their first appearance in Op C.A.K.E.D.-T.H.R.E.E. they never appeared again and it is doubtful they will appear again. Numbuh One can be wack, thinking that babies come from eggs, thinking a bra was a type of armor (which was true), thinking a prom was a gathering of evil teenagers, etc. He had a horrible singing voice in Op D.I.A.P.E.R., but seemed to sing just fine in Op L.O.V.E. In Op G.R.A.D.U.A.T.E.S., when Father turned all the KND members into animals, Numbuh One was turned into either a seal or a sea lion. Lizzie calls him Nigey.In the upcoming episode, O.R.I.G.N.S, Nigel's history with Numbuhs 5 and 2 will be revealed.  

In the movie special Operation Z.E.R.O, it is revealed that Numbuh Zero, the greatest KND operative of all time, is actually Nigel's father, which makes Father his uncle and  Grandfather his grandfather.

Nigel's last name is supposedly derived directly from "uno", which in Spanish and Italian  means the number one.

The codenames are spelled "numbuh" because Numbuh 1 says it like this because of his English accent.⏎
