==Later life==
After retiring from professional bodybuilding in 2010, Melvin moved to southern Mississippi.
  In August 23, 2015, he was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute, and unlawful possession of a firearm. In January 2017 he was again arrested for delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm.
