He has been a constant threat to the western nations since he was first defeated by the Church Knights at the cataclysmic battle at which the Bhelliom was lost. He is killed by Azash at the climax of ''The Sapphire Rose'', after the god learns that his servant failed him and allowed Sparhawk to destroy the Azash.

===Makova===
Makova, the Patriarch of Coombe [in Arcium], was the 'chairman' of the Hierocracy during the Archprelate Cluvonus's incapacitation. As he was Annias's primary "bought and paid for" supporter, Makova tirelessly 'championed' the Primate Annias. He is noted by Talen to be Annias' one true supporter: "Once somebody buys Makova, he stays bought—no matter how things turn out."
