Please do not merge the sucession tables unless they are of titles; this is contrary to the standard used.

: Look, if you're going to ignore me and the standards, fine, but please at least start using the Wikitax syntax for tables rather than the less-editable HTML.

Hi, I don't think there's any need to turn [[Isis]] into a [[wikipedia:Disambiguation|disambiguation]] page, since the goddess is by far the most famous usage of the word and the other two appear to have natural disambiguators. Hence, I have reverted this change. [[User:TUF-KAT|Tuf-Kat]] 04:24, Mar 15, 2004 (UTC)
:That's fine. I didn't mean to remove any content, just switch back the pages. (note that the message you left me wasn't on my talk page due to a typo -- you left it at [[User talk:TUF-KUT]], instead of TUF-KAT). There seems to be a strange broken link at [[Isis]], however. It looks like you (or maybe someone else) messed up one of the links, thereby breaking the interlanguage link to the Catalan Wikipedia. Should be fixed now, but let me know if you don't understand why it didn't work. [[User:TUF-KAT|Tuf-Kat]]
::The problem was just that the external link had an opening bracket but no closing bracket, so the wiki counted everything from the first bracket to the first closing bracket it found as the text of the link. Took me a minute to figure out what was wrong too. [[User:TUF-KAT|Tuf-Kat]] 05:04, Mar 15, 2004 (UTC)

==Preview==
Hi there Andy. You've made some nice new articles on Canadian politicians. I'm just wondering if you've noticed the "show preview" button next to the "save page" button. It can show you what you've written while you're in the middle of writing your article but doesn't add it to the encyclopedia. [[User:Moink|moink]] 21:19, 22 Mar 2004 (UTC)

==Nazism and Socialism==
I'm rather at a loss as to how to deal with Sam Spade. When someone's argument rests around an extreme POV, the inclusion of which would make the article entirely meaningless, I'm not sure how it is even possible to make a coherent argument against them within the principles of wikipedia. I mean, do we have to have some sentence like "Some radical libertarians argue that any form of state intervention in the economy is a form of socialism, and under that definition, Nazism, as well as just about any governmental system ever, would be a form of socialism?" That would be ridiculous. But we can't just prevent his POV from appearing at all, since that would seem to violate NPOV. And he doesn't seem to do anything worthy of banning. Well, perhaps we can argue him to death on the talk page. [[User:John Kenney|john]] 05:22, 29 Mar 2004 (UTC)

By the way, I hope there's no hard feelings about our disagreements earlier. I wasn't disagreeing in principle or substance with the arguments you were making, just disputing the best way to frame them in the context of the article. [[User:John Kenney|john]] 05:24, 29 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Thank you for the link. I happen to share Mclellan's reading of the essay -- my own sense is that Marx is using the term "Jew" as a metaphore for capitalism; the implication is actually an explanation of and critique of anti-semitism (anti-semites are really anti-capitalist, but are scape-goating the Jews, an example of what Marx and Engels would later call false consciousness). I've never actually read a sophisticated scholarly piece that sustains the argument that Marx was anti-semitic. [[User:Slrubenstein|Slrubenstein]]
:re: fascism -- I certainly don't blame you but it really is pearls cast before swine. Why bother? [[User:Slrubenstein|Slrubenstein]]

Wow, that was some incredible research work on Fascism. Excellently done -- thank you for being polite to WHEELER, and for doing the difficult work of finding the source in Italian. Two thumbs up! [[User:Jwrosenzweig|Jwrosenzweig]] 00:53, 31 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Yup, Halifax was certainly an appeaser. But I think it's wrong to say that he was really very symathetic to Nazism as a political system. He was buttering up Hitler for reasons of international politics, not because he found Nazism particularly amenable. At any rate, what do you think about the question of how to organize the fascism page? I think that arguing with WHEELER and TDC is ultimately worthless. As 172 suggests, the best way to deal with the issue is to change the terms of the debate to ones in which they are not comfortable. What we are trying to do is write an encyclopedia article, not have an argument about fascism. I'm fairly comfortable that we are winning the argument about fascism. I'm not as confident that we are making any progress towards improving the article. So, input is welcome. [[User:John Kenney|john]] 05:36, 31 Mar 2004 (UTC)

I am concerned about the lack of progress on the Fascism article. I just left a version of this message on John's page. It troubles me that people like you (who know a lot more about Fascism than I) may end up overwhelmed by the stupid arguments on the Talk page. I've participated in Wikipedia for a while and you are the kind of contributor we need. May I suggest that you and John discuss between yourselves the ideal structure of the article, hopefully taking into account my and 172's suggestions -- and then go ahead and change the page? I'm sure I'd support anything the two or three of you agree to. My suggestion is not meant to exclude others from contributing -- it is only meant to provide an immediate way to move beyond this impass to the next stage. [[User:Slrubenstein|Slrubenstein]]

== Article Licensing ==

Hi, I've [[User:rambot#Free the Rambot Articles project|started a drive]] to get users to [[Wikipedia:Multi-licensing|multi-license]] all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the [[Creative Commons]] Attribution-Share Alike (''CC-by-sa'') v1.0 and v2.0 [[Creative Commons License|License]]s or into the [[public domain]] if they prefer. The ''CC-by-sa'' license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the [[GFDL]], but it allows '''other projects''', such as [[WikiTravel]], to use our articles. Since you are among the [[Wikipedia:List_of_Wikipedians_by_number_of_edits|top 1000]] Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at ''minimum'' those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:
*[[User talk:Ram-Man#Multi-Licensing FAQ|Multi-Licensing FAQ]] - Lots of questions answered
*[[Wikipedia:Multi-licensing|Multi-Licensing Guide]]
*[[User:rambot#Free the Rambot Articles project|Free the Rambot Articles Project]]

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "'''<nowiki>{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}</nowiki>'''" template into their user page, but there are other options at [[Wikipedia:Template messages/User namespace#Licensing Templates|Template messages/User namespace]]. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

:'''Option 1'''
:<nowiki>I agree to [[Wikipedia:Multi-licensing|multi-license]] all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:</nowiki>
:<nowiki>{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}</nowiki>
'''OR'''
:'''Option 2'''
:<nowiki>I agree to [[Wikipedia:Multi-licensing|multi-license]] all my contributions to any [[U.S. state]], county, or city article as described below:</nowiki>
:<nowiki>{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}</nowiki>

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "'''<nowiki>{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}</nowiki>'''" with "'''<nowiki>{{MultiLicensePD}}</nowiki>'''". If you only prefer using the [[GFDL]], I would like to know that too. ''Please let me know'' what you think at my '''[[User talk:Ram-Man|talk page]]'''. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- [[User:Ram-Man|Ram-Man]] ([http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=User_talk:Ram-Man&action=edit&section=new comment]| [[User talk:Ram-Man|talk)]]
