Petrunic was recognized by the [[Commonwealth Scholarship]] for academic excellence to Clean50 for leadership in environmental sustainability initiatives,<ref name="cityage.org"/> and was elected to sit on the Board of Directors for InnovÉÉ (Observer) to ensure cross-pollination and innovation symbiosis in electrified vehicle technology development across Ontario and Quebec. 
Starting in 2018, she would be serving as an expert advisor to the City of Vancouver's Electric Vehicle Expert Panel.
