Cardi B identifies as a feminist.[91][92] Cardi B, has pubically embraced being a feminist and also calls for a reframing of feminism since she says it has been embedded in elitism <ref>Cardi B Love and Hop Hop's unlikely feminist hero by Sherri Williams</ref> In November 2016, she explains why she is a feminist and how often she's been dismissed due to racist and elitist beliefs on her instagram video she says, "If you believe in equal rights for women, that makes you a feminist. I don’t understand how you bitches feel like being a feminist is a woman that have a education, that have a degree. That is not being a feminist. Cardi B often has to defend her feminism because it is not the same flavor of white feminism/girl power artists such as [[Taylor Swift]] and [[Katy Perry]] displays, Cardi B often takes stances on sex workers' rights, poverty, poor schooling in urban communities, and racist beauty standards, and often times it is on her instagram platform to her thousands of followers.

Cardi B was a member of the Bloods, and has said she became a gang member at the age of 16.[15][16] However, she since has stated that she would not encourage joining a gang.[95] Cardi B has been called "unabashedly, directly political" (GQ)[95] and often uses her social media to advocate for causes she believes in, such as gun control.[96]
