Difference between revisions 9042008 and 9226604 on enwikiNote: Earlier discussion is on [[Talk:British and Irish December 2004 events]]⏎ ⏎ == Reporting police investigations and court cases == Please be careful when reporting news of police investigations and court cases. I've just reworded a bullet that made misleading statements about the investigation into the murder of Amy Williams. It is ''extremely'' important not to infer anything that is not explicitly stated in the source material, ''especially'' when a court case is or might be involved. The terminology used by police (and by trained journalists reporting these events) is carefully chosen to avoid accusations of prejudice should a court case follow. Several high-profile cases have been thrown out - and newspapers found guilty of contempt of court - because of prejudicial reporting.
