The '''Karuneegar''' is a [[caste]] in India. They are sub caste of Brahmins. Karuneegars are mainly concentrated in northern districts of Tamil Nadu, southern districts of Andhra Pradesh, southern districts of Karnataka, Kerala and other states. In Andhra Pradesh, they are called Karnams. They speak Telugu as well as Tamil especially Chittoor region. Typically Menons are Karuneegars of Kerala. They also inhibit various parts of India like Mumbai, Delhi and other states of India. The south Tamil nadu have many Pillai but they are not thought to belong to Karuneegars.
