Tamriel is the fictional continent where the events of [[the Elder Scrolls]] games take place.

Tamriel consists of nine provinces, each of these provinces corresponds with their own culture and race, with the exception of High Rock, which houses two distinct species:

* Third Era - Current era. Septim dynasty controls Tamriel for centuries, although the current emperor, Uriel Septim VII, in his advanced age, is unable to keep the empire fully under control. Jagar Tharn, the Imperial Battlemage, temporarily usurps the throne, until defeated by an unknown hero. Re-discovery of powerful Numidium related artifacts and the fulfillment of the Nerevarine prophecy in Morrowind province.


There are two other Eras previous to the aforementioned three. They are the 'Dawn Era' in which the universe and everything in it came into being, and the 'Mereithic Era', otherwise known as the Mythic Era, in which Elves first arrived in Tamriel and all manner of mythological occurances are said to have taken place. These two Eras are commonly considered to be outside of verifiable history, as humanity did not possess a written language to speak of until the end of ME. Elvish records, presumably, date back to the beginning of ME, however these are not open to Imperial scholars.

This list is by no means complete (the Imperial City of Cyrodiil itself has nearly an unknowable number of saints and holy spirits); it only touches on the most important spirits revered by region. Other et'Ada (Ehlnofex for Original Spirits), especially [[Daedra]], should be considered to be known to all cultures, though specific names are only here when they warrant a particular cultural significance.

To the distant south of Tamriel supposedly lies the Elven homeland of Old Ehlnofey, which was devastated in ancient times (hence the early migration of Elves to other continents, namely Tamriel).
