Dragoons comanded huge power upon the battlefield at the time because of their ability to incite fear within the enemy infantry. "The shock of a cavalry charge often proved decisive in gaining a victory."2 Had it not been for these handful of dragoons, the [[Battle of Cowpens]], a turning point in the war, could have been an American loss1. John Storm was born January 3, 1760 in [[Latimore Township, Pennsylvania]] and died December 13, 1835 in [[Greene County, Indiana]]3. He served under Captains [[Ballard Smith]] and [[Thomas Boyer]] in the 1st Virginia Regiment starting in 17803. Later that year he served under Captain [[Robert Morrows]] in Colonel [[William Washington]]'s Continental Dragoons3. He is believed to have fought not only in the [[Battle of Cowpens]], but the [[Battle of Guildford Court House]] as well. == External Links == [http://stephenfranklin.tripod.com/storjohn.html John Storm's Grave] == Resources == 1.
