Founded in 1986 by Michael L. Kmetz, IDES started as an Engineering PHD project for IBM. IBM needed a way to catalog the plastics materials used in manufacturing of their computer components like keyboards, computer cases and monitors. Quickly, the need for this information from one source grew and IDES transitioned its method for storing and presenting data from old floppy discs, to cd-rom and in 1996, to the Internet. ==External links== * [http://www.ides.com www.ides.com] [[Category:Companies of United States]] [[de:IDES]] [[es:IDES]] [[nl:IDES]] [[ja:IDES]] [[sv:IDES]] All content in the above text box is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license Version 4 and was originally sourced from https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?oldid=13531874.
