He was born on [[26 June]][[1941]] in [[Mortsel]] near [[Antwerp]]. He died by drowning himself on [[14 January]] [[2005]] in the lake of Fort number 6 in [[Wilrijk]] south of Antwerp. He was member of the [[European Parliament]] for the VLD in [[Flanders]].
