'''Ward Beysen''' was a Belgian politician  who started his political career in the Flemish Liberal party, the [[PVV]], which was renamed [[VLD]]. He was born on [[26 June]][[1941]] in [[Mortsel]] near [[Antwerp]]. He died by drowning himself on [[14 January]] [[2005]] in the lake of Fort number 6 in [[Wilrijk]] south of Antwerp.

He was member of the [[European Parliament]] for the VLD in [[Flanders]]. He became dissatisfied with the more and more leftist policies of the VLD and started his own political party, the [[Liberaal Appèl]] in [[2003]].
